A Failing Balancing Act

I haven't updated in over a month! There's not a whole lot going on though, so it's all good. I did, however, return to school two weeks ago. I finally got my missing homework about two weeks before I returned, so I managed to get most of it finished. I'm still working on catching up in Calculus.

Speaking of Calculus, I swear I've forgotten everything I've learned this year except all the basics. We've been having little tests on Mondays and Fridays and I've failed most of them. My grade is around a B or B- right now which is the worst grade I've ever had in a math class. It's rather disappointing. Yesterday I had a big test on integrals, and I'm 99.9 percent sure I failed it. And tests are worth 70 percent of our grade, so I'm afraid I might fail the class. And if I fail, I won't graduate because I need every single credit to meet the requirement. Plus, the AP test is on the 5th next month, and I'm totally not prepared!

I've also got a paper to write for Literature for a Changing America, and I need to start on the My Voice Project soon. Not to mention all the packets for Current World Problems.

At least Early Childhood Education and Exploring Art are way easy, and I don't have fourth period classes. I would be even more over-loaded!

It wouldn't be quite so hard if I didn't have Alexander to tend to. I have to feed him every two hours, and he's been extra cranky lately, so it's hard to find time to do my homework. My mom has helped out a lot, but it makes me feel like I'm pawning him off on her. And I know he's my responsibility, so that makes me feel bad. So, over all, I'm pretty stressed out!

I've also been trying to exercise to lose my baby weight, but I definitely can't find much time to do that. I mean, I lost most of it already without exercising, but I've still got some love-handles and a flabby tummy. I used to have really bad self-image issues, and they're all coming back. It makes me depressed, and I hate feeling like that.

But in good news, Nate is going to fly out here for the summer on the 7th next month. So, that's pretty exciting. There for a while we were having some problems. I'm not sure if they're exactly resolved because there's not much either one of us could do about it, but everything seems okay between us. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed on that one.

At this rate, I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through college. My teachers have made a few exceptions for me when I wasn't able to get things done on time, but they're not going to be so lenient in college.

Maybe I'm freaking out a little too much, but it's pretty hard trying to find a way to balance everything. At least when Nate gets here, I can pawn Alexander off on him without feeling bad so I can get stuff done. Haha. As Daddy, he's just as responsible for him as I am. And I'm doing my part in preparing to support him in the future by trying to graduate on time!

Well, Alexander finally fell asleep, so I'm off to work on some more homework. Laterr.

Homebound

It's been 12 days since my last update. Buuut, I haven't done much of anything to write about. My days consist of feeding Alexander, changing his diapers, reading, and sleeping when I can in between.

Alexander has his two week checkup on Monday. The chubby guy gained two pounds in just 13 days! My mom and I went to the bookstore with him after his appointment and I got three books which I finished in four days. (I wasn't kidding when I said that's all I've been doing!)

Today I went to the mall with my mom, Brady, Brandon, and Alex so Brady and Brandon could get new shoes. Then we went to the half-price bookstore and I got two more books. But right now I'm reading the Sookie Stackhouse books (the books True Blood is based off of), so it'll be a while before I get to the new ones.

Today is also Nate's birthday. He's 21 now! I wish I could have been there with him today, but it's all good. I just hope he had a good day.

I'm also way behind on my school work. The dumb school got things all mixed up and procrastinated and all sorts of things, so I haven't gotten a single piece of homework yet, and I've been out for three weeks. I'm going to go out of my mind!

But that's about it. I'll update again if anything exciting happens.

I'm a Mommy Now!

Thursday (the 18th) last month, I got home from school and had a doctor's appointment. So, I took Nate with me, and we went together. While I was there, I asked my doctor if he would check to see if I was dilated. He did, and he said that I was dilated to 4, so he sent me up to labor and delivery so they could check to see if I was in labor. Another doctor came in after I had been hooked up to the contraction machine thingy for a while to check my dilation again, and said that I was actually only at 2. So, they sent me home.

The next day I stayed home from school because I was starting to feel the contractions. Around mid-afternoon, I was having them every five minutes for an hour, so we set off for the hospital.

I got admitted and everything, and boyy, those contractions got bad! Haha. I wanted to have an all natural birth without drugs, but I didn't quite make it. I got the epidural at 9 cm - just 5-15 more minutes and I wouldn't have been able to get one! But the two doctors that delivered said that I got so far, I shouldn't even tell anyone I got the epidural. Haha.

Well, my baby boy was born at 4:44 a.m. on his due date (February 20th)! It was the most amazing feeling in the world! My mom, David, Nate, Sarah, Nathan, and Kim all stayed with me the whole time. David, Sarah, Nathan, and Kim stood behind the curtain while I was actually pushing, but they were still in the room, nonetheless. I was soo happy when I got to hold him! =]

I got to come home on the 22nd, and it was such a relief to get out of the hospital! So, Nate, Alexander, and I got to spend 5 days together here before Nate had to fly back home.

Alex and I have been doing pretty good since we got home. He only wakes me up a few times a night, and he usually goes right back to sleep after eating and getting his diaper changed. He's a good baby. =]

Yesterday Sarah and Nathan came to visit for the first time since they visited at the hospital. We went over to Starbucks to show Bean to her mom, and then we went to her house to show her dad too. Her dad invited me to go bowling with them, so my mom babysat Bean while I was out. It was pretty nice to get out of the house for a few hours.

Today I spent most of the day over at Amanda's with Bean, her kids, and Kaylee. We didn't do much, just sat and talked. It was still really nice though. I'm the kind of person that needs to get out of the house a lot. Plus, I've been kind of sad since Nate had to go home, so I like to keep my mind preoccupied.

I did enjoy my time with Nate while he was here though. I really miss him already. Sleeping alone is so lame. And cold. =[

I probably won't have a whole lot of time to update from now on, but I'll try my hardest. Niight!

A Week in the Life

Soo, David got home on the seventh. He and my mom made it back in time to watch the Superbowl. And as I'm sure we're all aware, the Colts lost. 'Twas a sad day. But David being home made up for everything. =]

The next day (Monday) I skipped school. I had a doctor's appointment that morning anyway, so I would have only made it for one class. Instead I went to my appointment, then came home and went out to eat at Red Lobster with David and my mom while the boys were still at school. Then we went to the mall and looked around a bit. I got my first two nursing bras. Aha.

Tuesday I had school. It was an orange day, so it was rather uneventful.

Wednesday I didn't have school cause it was an advisory half day. I went to the mall again with David to get some stuff, like my mom's Valentine's Day present and a battery for the car locker thingy. We also went to Best Buy for a new computer tower (which is reeeally nice) and the Commissary for supper.

Thursday I had school again. Everyone in Early Childhood Development was surprised to see me. They all thought I had had my baby since I wasn't there Monday. Haha. It was humorous. I guess they had called my house and everything.

Friday I didn't have school again. Four day weekend for President's Day! I went over to Sarah's house to see Nathan while she was with Josh at his parents'. We didn't really do much. Chatted, watched a movie. Then I went home and Sarah texted me not long afterward asking if I wanted to stay the night at Nathan's cause she had to take him home. So, Sarah, Josh, and I all stayed the night at his house. We went to Walmart first and bought Zombieland and Mad Gab. So, we played Mad Gab (which is a great game!) and watched Zombieland. We were up until like, 1 or 2 in the morning. So, Sarah and I went to bed cause we were tired. The guys stayed up until 4 or 5. Those two are complete night owls.

Nathan's sister, Naomi, made us breakfast when we got up in the morning. She is such a sweetie. =] Then Sarah was ready to head home, so we said bye to everyone, and she dropped me off. Shortly after that, I went with my family to a barbecue at Erika's house. We have Mad Gab too, so I said we should bring it, and we all played over at Erika's. It was pretty great. ^_^

Yesterday, my family, Tausha and Kaylee, and Amanda and Erika and their kids all went to Chuck E. Cheese for Valentine's Day. It was crazy in there. It was so packed and hot and there were kids flying everywhere. I got to play some games though, and I won the jackpot twice on my favorite one. =] But there wasn't much to get with my tickets, so I just got a candy necklace and gave the rest to David. Haha. They helped him out though. If I hadn't given him mine, he wouldn't have had enough for the game he got. :p Then around 8:30, David took my brothers and I to the PX and let us all pick out something as a Valentine's present. I got 5 SimCity games that were on sale for $20 altogether and a little protection box for my Zune. I thought that was really nice of him. =]

Today I went with my mom for a meet 'n' greet with Bean's pediatrician. She was really nice, laid back, and down to earth. I like her a lot. She also has two adorable therapy dogs. They were soo cute. =] But I think I'll like that place a lot.

So, in good news, yesterday morning I had my last cigarette, and I haven't had one since. This is the longest I've ever gone of my own free will without one. I think I may finally be able to quit this time!

And my second piece of good news, Nate is coming in this Wednesday for the birth of Bean. Haha. At least, we're hoping Bean waits til then. I can pop any day now...

I'm pretty sure that's everything that has happened in the last week. I'm surprised I remembered it all! So, hopefully I will remember to write again soon. Niight.

Everything Happens in February

Everything that is, except getting my driver's license, which I succeeded at doing on the 30th last month. =] I could go into the finer details, but I'll just keep it short and sweet and admit that I barely passed. Haha.

The new semester at school started this Monday (the 1st). I've been driving to school every day since I don't have a fourth period either day - I need a way to get home. I have Early Childhood Education and Exploring Art 1 on blue days and Literature of a Changing America and Contemporary World Problems on orange days. And of course, I still have Calculus every day. =] Orange days have proven to be rather evil so far. They're a lot of work already, but they're pretty interesting.

Earlier this week (I don't recall what day), Sarah asked me to go over to her apartment to help her finish packing. So, I headed out there and wound up getting lost because I went out the wrong gate and ended up in Spanaway. I made my way back though and found the right gate and made it to Sarah's apartment. That pretty much sucked, but I can laugh about it now. Haha.

Then Thursday, Nate texted me and told me that he'll be able to come up here from the 17th to 28th. I told my mom, and ten minutes later she had the plane ticket purchased. She got a pretty good deal too - under $300 for a round trip (Indiana to Washington and back) on Southwest. So, he doesn't have to pay for baggage either. I'm super excited!

Then later that night, David told my mom that he got an early flight home for leave from Afghanistan. He's currently on his way home, and he should be here in the early afternoon on Sunday! He'll get to stay home for two weeks before going back. The whole family is excited for that! =]

And then, of course, I'm due the 20th this month. So, I've probably got the busiest month of my life ahead of me! So, this should be preeetty interesting.

What A Lovely Weekend

Looks like I didn't make it to an update before five days. Haha.

Well, Saturday I went and took my written test and passed it. I only missed one question. =] My driving test is scheduled for this Friday, so we'll see how that goes. If it goes well, I should have my license on Friday!

After my test, I came home to Sarah, Nathan, and Josh waiting for me out in the car. We hung out for a while and went out to eat and stuff. Then Sarah's parents said Nathan couldn't stay another night, so we were going to take him home, but Sarah managed to convince them to let him stay another night. But I felt left out cause I wanted to stay the night too, and I didn't want her to piss her dad off any more, so I asked my mom if all three of them could stay here. And she actually said yes! So, we got to have a sleepover at my house. We rented some movies and played apples to apples and stuff. Then we woke up and went to her Sarah's parent's house to go look at houses for sale because they're moving again. Her dad is getting out of the army, and they're looking for a house to buy that's close to the school for her brother, so he can walk. After all that, Sarah was in a house searching mood, so we went to Spanaway to look at houses for sale there. We didn't find much. They were all brand new and close to 200,000 dollars, and with her credit, there's no way they'd give her the loan. After we were done looking, we dropped Nathan off at home, then they dropped me off at home too. It was really nice. That's the longest amount of time I've got to spend with any of them since the summer, so I really enjoyed it.

Yesterday I got all my work turned in for photography. I was the first person in class to do so. =] So, my grade is back up to an A. I took a test in Pacific Northwest History, reviewed for the final in Calculus, and did the sit and reach for fitness testing in Fitness.

After school I spent half the day working on finishing my poster board. It looks very pretty. =] The other half of the day was devoted to studying for Calculus.

So, today I took the non-calculator half of my Calc final. I think I did pretty well for the most part. In Glass Crafts I made a little fused dolphin for my mom. It's cute; I think she'll like it. I won't get to bring it home until Thursday though, so it's a surprise. =]

I'm a bit bored at the moment though. I've got all my work done, so I don't have anything to do. Haha. It feels weird after having such a busy weekend. But since I don't have anything more to write about, I'll leave here. Later.

Last Five Days

Ah! I haven't updated in five days! I accidentally removed the link to this site from my toolbar, and it won't let me add it again, so I always forget to write since I don't see it up there.

Anywho, on Sunday Sarah came to visit me. She wanted bangs, so she came over and let me cut her hair. Brave woman. Haha. But really, I didn't do badly at all. They look really cute on her too. =] Then she had an errand to run for her boss, so she let me do all the driving. It was pretty fun. She said I'm a better driver than Nathan and that I park better than her. Hehe.

Speaking of driving, I went yesterday to take my written test like I was supposed to. But the guy there said that he has to study in order to pass the test. And since I haven't studied, I decided to do that before possibly wasting the $20 it costs to take the dang test. So, I got the driving guide, and I'm going to read it before going on Saturday instead.

I've been having a rather social week at school. I usually don't talk to many people, but Tuesday and today I've been chatting with anyone who will sit and listen to me. Haha. I also stayed after school today to retake one of my calculus quizzes. I improved from a C to an A+. Now, my grade in that class is 100.6%! I'm such a math geek. =]

My poster for my senior presentation is about halfway done. I should have it finished this weekend. Next Friday is when I present. I am quite ready for this semester to be over with!

Oh yeah, I also babysat Kaylee for Tausha this past weekend. I don't remember if it was Sunday or Monday (we didn't have school). We went to the park across the street, which was really fun. She wore me out running up and down the stairs on the playground about 10 times. She was being rotten after we came back inside though. She was getting into everything and wouldn't leave things alone when I told her to. She's getting close to the terrible 2's. You can definitely tell because her favorite word is "no". Poor Tausha is gonna have her work cut out for her.

Well, that's all I can remember from the past five days. I'll update again later (hopefully sooner than five days). Niight.

Just Another Day

It's Saturday, and I have a three day weekend!

I managed to get some things accomplished at school yesterday. I got two of the three portrait shots done that I need for my last photography assignment. I'm going to do the last one this weekend at home if the sun actually comes out. (I have to do it outside.) I'll get to really test out my camera I got for Christmas. =]

I also went to see the counselor, and I got to drop the second semester of Spanish 3. I took it last year, but my teacher sucked, so I took it again this year. But the teacher here is even worse, so I haven't learned squat. While I was there I talked to her about what I'm going to do after I have the baby. I got the paperwork I needed for home/hospital service. I just need to have Dr. Brady fill it out, then I need to turn it in, and I'll be good to go. I'll have a coordinating teacher (he/she coordinates with my regular teachers) come to my house once or twice a week while I'm out of school to give me my work and teach me the lessons. That way I won't fall behind. ^_^

Wednesday I'm going to go take my written test again. I have my permit already (I got it in Indiana), but I need to retake it to get my license here in Washington. After that, I'll schedule my driving test, and if I pass, I'll finally have my license! Super excited!

And in other good news, the Colts won their game today! Haha. I'm pretty happy about that. I hope we make it to the Superbowl!

So, that's it for today. Niight!

Highlights

So, my week thus far hasn't been too full of activity. Tuesday night I went with my mom to pick her friend, Tausha, up from the airport. I was super happy to see her and Kaylee! She was really surprised to see how big my belly has gotten since she left two months ago. Haha. It was pretty great. And she even got me a cute little moose key chain 'cause she knows I love mooses. =]

Besides that I've just been busy with school work. We're doing lots of review in calculus, and I have those two presentations coming up. I've figured out everything I'm going to talk about in my senior presentation for the most part. I just need to get all the materials to make my tri-fold. I've even got the layout all figured out for that. My Spanish presentation is mostly finished. I just need to answer a few more questions for it.

I think I'm finished with walking class. We walked the timed mile yesterday, and I think we're supposed to do more fitness testing, but if it's anything other than walking, I can't really do it (being prego and all). I got my glass project back today! It turned out really nice, except I set it down on a tiny piece of glass in the kiln, so it got fused to the back. Super annoying!

And in glass crafts, this guy practically told me that I'm hot. Someone said that they hope I have a cute baby, and he said, of course she will - look at her! Brown hair and blue eyes together is hot. That totally made my day! Haha.

I actually had a really good day in general. I talked to lots of people, and that always puts me in a good mood. I'm a very social person at heart.

Well, those are the highlights of my week. I'm off to bed. Niight.

Uneventful

Soo, it's Sunday night, and my weekend has been pretty uneventful and unproductive.

I got my calculus homework done as usual. That was the first thing I did after school on Friday - I love that class. =] I also started working on my senior presentation. It's rather difficult because I feel like I have nothing to talk about, and the presentation has to be 10-15 minutes or I don't pass. But I managed to come up with some stuff to get me started. I'll need to get my tri-fold soon so I can start on the visual aid. Graduation requirements nowadays...

But other than that, I've spent most of my time talking to Nate on the computer or reading. I started rereading the Harry Potter series, and I'm around halfway through the Chamber of Secrets.

I wanted to do something with Sarah today, but she was busy running her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend around. (It's a strange situation - it'd take too long to explain.) Her mom also wanted to spend time with her, and she said she doesn't have the gas money right now to come see me. She said she'd see what she can do next weekend. I feel bad for nagging her to come visit all the time, but since Nathan (finally) started school, she's the only friend I have who can come visit. I should really work on getting my license... Then I could go see her when she doesn't have gas money. I need my license by the end of the month anyway. I don't have fourth period classes next semester, so I'll need a way home. My mom definitely doesn't want to have to pick me up from school every day!

That's it for today. School tomorrow...

Night!

January at a Glance

So, after a few busy days, I took yesterday off as a lazy day. I still did my calc homework and all that, of course. I also got my CBA research paper back. 215/220! I tied with one other person for the highest grade in the class. I even did 20 points better than our class valedictorian. I'm still pretty happy about that. =]

Today I had my doctor's appointment. There was a lady with Dr. Brady who was visiting from way over in eastern Washington. She was really nice. She checked my lungs and mine and Bean's heartbeat and stuff. This visit was the start of my bi-monthly checkups. So, I have another in two weeks. I think after that I start going every week until delivery. I'm getting so close! I'm starting to get a little nervous... I'm still super excited though. =]

In school, I found out the date for my senior presentation. It's the very last day of the semester. I'll be the second to last out of the whole class to present. (Let's just hope Bean doesn't pop an early arrival on us!) In calculus we got a seating chart because my class doesn't know when to be quiet. Seriously, we're juniors and seniors. We should know the difference between a good or bad time to talk. And in glass crafts, I almost finished my project. I got all the pieces cut, but there was one I wanted to redo because it didn't fit quite right. But then my mom arrived to pick me up for my appointment. So, I'll just have to finish it on Tuesday.

And speaking of Tuesday, my mom's friend, Tausha, and her daughter are coming home that day! I'm excited about that too. =] (They were going to be gone until March.) I haven't seen them since November. I heard that Kaylee has started talking more and all sorts of stuff. She's probably gotten so big in just the past couple months. My mom is picking her dog up from the airport on Sunday. He'll probably be staying here until Tausha gets here.

So, yeahh. I've got lots to look forward to (and lots of stuff I'm not looking forward to as well). It's going to be a very interesting month.

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

Busy Day

Today has been a pretty busy day. I skipped school and got to sleep in until 10. It was nice. I hate having to get up at 5:30 just to go to school. And that's only if I don't bathe in the morning. I've been taking baths at night lately to avoid getting up extra early. Haha. But anyway, I made pancakes for my brothers and I for lunch. Then not long after that I went to Cascade to finish my career connection. Finally done! I just need to have the assistant director fill out the paper, then I can turn it in.

Right after that I had my WIC appointment. I got my last two months of checks before I'm due. While I was there I went to the breastfeeding class. I had to sit through two hours of listening to the lady tell me a bunch of stuff I've already learned about. It was rather boring.

So after all that, I didn't end up getting home until 5. I ate supper not long after getting home, and since then, I've just been chatting with the boyfriend online and putting off finishing my homework. I'm actually not sure if it was homework or not. My teacher didn't specify. So, we may or may not have time to finish it in class tomorrow. Oh well. I'll get it done one way or another.

My best friend called me today too. She got a new cell phone - she hasn't had one in about three years. So, I was pretty excited to hear from her. We talked for a while, but she had to go to take a shower and head off to work. We've been best friends for nearly 10 years, so it's weird to stop and think about how far we've come since we met.

That's about it, really. I think I'm going to go read for a little bit before I go to bed. Night!

So Much To Do!

So, today at school I found out that the presentations as part of our graduation requirements are beginning next week. We're drawing dates at random on Friday to determine when each of ours will be presented. I thought we'd have more time to get to work on them. Apparently not. We only get two days in class. One day was today. The other is on Friday. I am soo nervous.

I also have another presentation for Spanish to start working on on Friday. That one is with a partner though, and it'll be really easy. I just don't like it because it is a presentation. Haha.

Then in Glass Crafts I got to start on my new project. It's fusing, and I'm making a little rainbow heart. It'll be cute when it's done. =]

After school I went to the hospital to get my glucose test for gestational diabetes done. That stuff they make you drink tastes terrible. It's sickly sweet and orange flavored. Yuck. Then I had to wait an hour before they drew my blood, and I wasn't even allowed to leave the waiting room. At least my mom and I are able to keep a conversation flowing.

I'm skipping school tomorrow because it's a half day for advisory. All the work I would do in there, I do in my Senior Seminar class (which is the class where we're doing all the graduation requirements). So, it's kind of pointless to go, especially since we're wayy ahead of the game. So, tomorrow I'm going to finish up my career connection hours (only 2.25 to go!), and I also have a WIC appointment at 2:45.

I have a regular doctor's appointment on Thursday at 2:30. I'll end up missing part of Fitness, but whatever. That class has been killer on my feet. Carrying around nearly 40 extra pounds and trying to work out is no easy feat. And speaking of doctor's appointments, I need to start looking for a pediatrician for the baby. I really have no idea where to start. I've never done any of this before. Ah, first pregnancies.

I really feel like I've got my work cut out for me the next few weeks. Let's hope that I'll pull through all right! (And hopefully just in time for delivery!)

New Moon

Today is the last day of Christmas break, so I texted Sarah last night to see if she wanted to go to the movies with me today. So, she came and picked me up at around 1, and we went to see New Moon with Nathan and her boyfriend, Josh.

The movie wasn't too bad - I definitely prefer the book (just like any other book made into a movie). It could have used more detail and elaboration, but it was long enough as it is. Especially with a baby pushing his feet into your ribs half the time. Haha.

I enjoyed it though. Sarah's reactions to everything Jacob did in the movie cracked me up. She prefers Edward, so her facial expressions whenever Jacob and Bella came close to kissing were pretty priceless.

The only downer was the fact that she dropped me off at home right after the movie. I really wish she would put a little more effort into spending some time with me. That might sound really selfish, but I just feel like ever since she started dating Josh, she's let him decide what she's going to do with her time. She won't do anything unless he agrees to it. It's just getting kind of old.

Well, there's my excitement for the day. My plans for the rest of the night: eat dinner, finish laundry, get stuff together for school tomorrow, and bed.

Niight.

Starting Over

Until today I had another blog that I wrote in on and off for about five years.

But I deleted it.

I decided that I'm going to start over and leave all that behind. I'm tired of trying to hold onto everything from the past. I've entered a completely different phase of my life, so none of that is important anymore.

So, just to get started...

My name is Katelyn. I'm a senior in high school, and I'm going to graduate this year in June. I'm currently 7.5 months pregnant. I'm due February 20th. My boyfriend (Nate) and I have a very good relationship, but he lives in Indiana (I live in Washington). I met him there while I lived with my dad, but I moved in with my mom again after I found out about being pregnant. So, he's still there finishing up college.

None of my friends live really close, so I don't have much of a life (I'll admit it). The closest one (Sarah) lives about 20 minutes away down the interstate, and the other one (Nathan) lives around half an hour away. The rest of my friends don't even live in state. They are either in Missouri or Indiana. Sarah tries to visit me at least once a week though. She has a job, so she doesn't have much free time.

Overall, my life isn't bad at all though. My friends, family, and boyfriend are all fantastic and very supportive. I manage to find things to do, and I've been pretty busy with school anyway. I'm a good student. I've had my rough times like anyone else, but I've managed to get mostly A's throughout high school.

So, there's some background information about me. I'll be trying to update everyday, but don't expect anything terribly exciting. ^_^
